Since the paper edition of the fall 2008 La Follette Notes went to press, we've heard about several more members of the class of 2008 who have jobs in their fields. That brings to 41 (or 79 percent) the number of May grads employed in their areas of interest. With the three who are pursuing additional education, 80 percent are taking the next steps in their careers. In September, 60 percent of class members reported they were employed in their fields.

“That’s an impressive percentage of students to have jobs so soon after graduation,” says Career Development Coordinator Mary Russell. “This shows how in demand our students are.”
An unprecedented three students reached the finalist stage in the Presidential Management Fellows Program that places applicants with federal agencies for two years. Andria Hayes-Birchler and Patti Reis moved forward, while Kavan Kucko took a position with the Federal Reserve Board of Governors.
Carissa DeCramer won the L.P. Cookingham Management Fellowship with the City of Kansas City in Missouri.
Of the 44, 25 new alumni are in Madison, while three are in Milwaukee. Eight are in Washington, D.C., and nine are working elsewhere in the United States.
