Blue-Ribbon Commission
on Campaign Finance Reform
On November 20th, 1996, Wisconsin governor Tommy Thompson appointed a bi-partisan Commission on Campaign Finance Reform. The Governor's Proclamation charged the Blue Ribbon Commission with making a "fundamental reexamination" of the state's campaign finance laws and recommending changes to strengthen Wisconsin's tradition of clean and effective government. The Commission has until May 1, 1997 to report its finding and recommendations.

Created in 1984 by the Wisconsin Legislature, the La Follette Institute at the University of Wisconsin-Madison carries out a multifaceted mission of instruction, research, and outreach.
