Career Development: Statistics: 2009
Graduates of the La Follette School of Public Affairs'
select program are employed around the world for
national, state and local governments, private
businesses and nonprofit organizations.
Of the 48 May 2009 graduates, 77 percent (37 people) reported employment in their field or pursuit of further study by October 5, 2009. Of those 37 alumni, 22 are in Madison, five are in Washington, D.C., and seven are working elsewhere in the United States. One is on a Fulbright to Nepal; another is teaching English in China; a third is in Geneva with the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. Thirty-one students (65 percent) reported having jobs in their field.
In comparison to August 2008, a class of 56 students, 66 percent (37 graduates) reported they were working or learning in their fields. However, three people (5 percent) were pursuing additional education, compared to seven students (15 percent) in August 2009. Thirty-four students (61 percent) reported having jobs in their field by August 2008.
