Speed networking is similar to speed dating, an activity popularized by singles services, but with a professional focus. After 30 minutes for registration and socializing, alumni and students sat down in pairs. Each duo had about four minutes to discuss career and professional interests. When the whistle blew, they exchanged business cards, and students rotated to the next alum. “Meeting alumni in a relaxed but structured setting provided a nice opportunity to feel out career directions,” says master of public affairs student Gail Krumenauer. “Our alumni have diverse and interesting professional experience. I appreciated the opportunity to establish contacts for future endeavors and explore career possibilities.”
