Each year, approximately 50 students from across the country and around the world begin working toward their two-year Master of Public Affairs or Master of International Public Affairs degrees. The La Follette School has a reputation for graduating public affairs professionals who are the best of the best.
The career development coordinator at the La Follette School works closely with employers to identify suitable job candidates among recent graduates or students graduating soon. The coordinator arranges on-site recruitment visits to put employers in direct contact with outstanding students, offering employers the opportunity to interview students and offering students the opportunity to learn more about recruiting organizations.
Current students and recent graduates often choose to have the La Follette School post their résumés on the school's web site so employers can review them and contact students directly.
Also, the career development coordinator works with government, private, and nonprofit agencies to establish project assistantships and internships for current students. These arrangements are an efficient use of resources and can be a valuable recruitment strategy to meet future hiring needs.
