ABOUT THE PROGRAM
The Skornicka Seminars are a project of La Follette's Center for State, Local, and Tribal Governance. The Center's mission is to put
the resources of La Follette's public policy program to work for governing bodies across
Wisconsin. In the past several years, youth violence (including drug and alcohol
abuse and gangs) have emerged as issues of
statewide concern, and the seminars have focused on identifying community based approaches
to increase public safety. Since 1999, the Skornicka Seminars have involved
leaders from all sectors of the community--the justice system, schools, heath and social
services, business, and religion.
The conference for the spring 2002 seminar is scheduled for May 3-4 at the
Pyle Center in Madison, Wisconsin. Check back in the spring for more
information on the conference.
