Edith and Manfred Kingshoff Fund

Edith and Manfred Kingshoff

The Edith and Manfred Kingshoff Fund recognizes the parents of former La Follette School director Barbara (Bobbi) Wolfe, who established the fund to honor their generosity. Manfred and Edith Kingshoff developed a strong interest in fair and tolerant immigration policies after they immigrated to the United States from Nazi Germany in 1938. Their experience with U.S. immigration policy included their failure to bring over Manfred’s parents to join them and their success in sponsoring all four of their siblings and Edith’s parents. Their well-known generosity included supporting nearly all of these relatives emotionally and financially as they adjusted to life in the United States. Their daughter believes they would be especially pleased with supporting students interested in improving immigrant policies in the United States and elsewhere in the world. The purpose of the fund is to support a graduate student in the La Follette School of Public Affairs, ideally one who is interested in immigration policy. The fund may be used for a scholarship or to enhance learning by funding an internship, travel or research.
