Apple- and pumpkin-picking followed by a potluck dinner and other events are on tap for Saturday, October 31, thanks to the La Follette School Student Association's social committee.
Participants for the morning field trip to the Eplegaarden Orchard in Fitchburg can meet at La Follette at 9:30 a.m. to carpool. The plan is to arrive at the orchard around 10:15 a.m. The Eplegaarden Orchard is an old-fashioned farm where things "move a bit slower." The farm is located in Fitchburg and features self-pick apples, raspberries and pumpkins, hayrides, animals and a haunted barn.
Dinner will be at a student's house, potluck style, so attendees should bring an entree, side dish, dessert or beverage of their choosing to share with others. The gathering begins at 6 p.m. and will be highlighted by a pumpkin carving contest.
"As it is Halloween and we will be going out after dinner, everyone is encouraged to dress up," says Ian Ritz, LSSA social coordinator. "As an added incentive, prizes will be awarded to those who carve the best jack-o-lantern and those who have the best Halloween costume."
People should feel free to attend one event and not the other, Ritz adds. Contact him, , to arrange transportation and to learn the location of the potluck dinner.
