Government innovation awards to be given today
Innovations in Milwaukee’s sewerage district, a project to divert thousands of tons of street sweeping from landfills, and a novel adaptation of trucks to save labor and equipment in leaf collection have won Lloyd D. Gladfelter Awards for government innovation. The three winners will be honored in a ceremony at 2 p.m. today, May 7, in the Senate Parlor in the State Capitol. Read more ...
Olson honors WWII veterans by coordinating flights to D.C. memorial
Fred Olson believes service to the nation must be honored. Since 2009, the retired Army colonel has been devoting his attention to the Honor Flight program that raises money to organize charter trips for World War II veterans to visit the World War II Memorial and other memorials in Washington, D.C., dedicated to their service and sacrifices.
