Former county executive to speak Tuesday

Former Dane County Executive Kathleen Falk will discuss her 30-year career in government at the La Follette School’s first seminar for the spring. She will speak on “A Career of Politics, Service and Leadership: The View from the Executive’s Chair” on Tuesday, January 24, from noon to 1 p.m.  in 114 Ingraham Hall.

Falk recently announced her candidacy for Wisconsin governor in a likely recall election for Governor Scott Walker. She was the first woman county executive in Dane County and the longest serving, from 1997-2011. Falk was a primary candidate for governor in 2002, the first major party woman gubernatorial candidate in Wisconsin history. She lost a bid for state attorney general in 2006. Prior to her election as Dane County executive, Falk served as an assistant attorney general and public intervenor in the Wisconsin Department of Justice for 14 years. She began her career as co-director and counsel to Wisconsin’s Environmental Decade.
