January 24, 2012

The La Follette School is holding two receptions for alumni and friends in February, one in Madison on February 2, the other in Chicago on February 15.

Alumni and friends in the Madison area are invited to join faculty, staff and students for conversation, hors d'oeuvres and cash bar from 4:30 to 7 p.m. at Inn on the Park, 22 South Carroll St.

More than 100 people gathered in Madison last year to meet other alumni, catch up with former classmates, connect with mentors and visit with faculty and staff. Alumni from the 1970s, 1990s and 2000s have said they will attend.

The La Follette School Student Association, which is sponsoring the Madison reception, will hold a silent auction; proceeds will support the graduation celebration at the Capitol.

The Chicago gathering on Wednesday, February 15, will feature casual conversation, drinks and hors d'oeuvres from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the downtown offices of Congress for the New Urbanism where 1988 alum John Norquist is executive director. The offices are in suite 404 of 140 S. Dearborn Street. Director Tom DeLeire, publications director Karen Faster, and outreach staffers Terry Shelton and Bridget Pirsch plan to attend.

The free social gatherings are open to all alumni and friends of the school, so anyone visiting Chicago or Madison is welcome to stop by. The events are made possible by donations from alumni and friends to the La Follette School via the University of Wisconsin Foundation. RSVPs are encouraged but not required.
