A career as a diplomat and international development expert is the subject of the La Follette School's Policy After Work Series on Thursday, March 26, at Brocach on Madison's Capital Square, 7 West Main St., from 5-7 p.m. Light refreshments are served along with a cash bar.
Jatinder Cheema will speak about her 25 years' experience as a diplomat and a development expert with the U.S. Agency for International Development. She held senior-level positions around the world managing and supervising U.S. assistance budgets and programs. Cheema's work experience had her living in many regions and countries such as India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Armenia, Central Asia, West Africa countries, and Afghanistan. She has settled in Madison and opened a community gathering place called "A Place to Be" at 911 Williamson St.
She has a Ph.D. in social sciences from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, a master's in public health and a master's in social work.
