La Follette hosts Brazil’s policy analysis expert

Leonardo Secchi Leonardo Secchi

Professor Leonardo Secchi of Brazil's Santa Caratina State University is an honorary fellow with an office at the La Follette School this year.

Secchi is the author of the first public policy textbook written in Portuguese.

The public administration expert is working on a research on the normative bases for policy analysis, and writing a second book on public policy analysis. He also is collaborating with La Follette School political scientist David Weimer on translating Weimer's book Policy Analysis: Concepts and Practice into Portuguese. "Professor Weimer's work has been helpful in my research and teaching so I want to make it available to a broader audience in Brazil," Secchi says.

Secchi is founding director of PVBLICA, a Brazilian public policy institute, and is a director of the Brazilian Society for Public Administration.

He will speak on building policy analysis capacity in Brazil at an April 7 seminar.
