Student wins seat on Madison city council

Student Sara Eskrich won a seat on the Madison Common Council in the April 7 election.

She defeated legislative aide Zach Madden to replace interim Alder Lucas Dailey. She will represent District 13 on Madison's west and near-south side.

Eskrich is a student in the La Follette School's Master of Public Affairs degree program and in the university's master of public health degree program, and expects to graduate in August. She also works as a policy and programs liaison for Covering Kids and Families. She has served on the City of Madison Public Safety Review Committee, Dudgeon Monroe Neighborhood Association council and the Wisconsin Democracy Campaign board.
