The Special Committee is directed to: (1) conduct a recodification of ch. 166, Stats., relating to emergency management, to include reorganizing the chapter in a logical manner, renumbering and retitling sections, consolidating related provisions, modernizing language, resolving ambiguities in language, and making other necessary changes; (2) make recommendations on issues relating to continuity of legislative operations during emergencies, including but not limited to lines of succession, alternate seat of state government for the Legislature, suspension of legislative quorum requirements, and participation by legislators through alternative means from remote locations; and (3) review the Uniform Emergency Volunteer Health Practitioners Act for consideration and introduction in the next legislative biennium.
On June 25, 2008, the state of Wisconsin created the Wisconsin Recovery Task Force for coordinating state efforts in mitigation, agriculture, business, housing, human needs and infrastructure. Under the direction of the State Coordinating Officer (SCO) and Federal Coordinating Officer (FCO), the long-term mission of the Wisconsin Recovery Task Force (WRTF) is to build, sustain, align, and leverage relationships developed during the recovery efforts of FEMA-1768-DR-WI, effectively coordinate the identification and prioritization of long-term needs of communities, and to recommend action.
The Association of State Floodplain Managers is an organization of professionals involved in floodplain management, flood hazard mitigation, the National Flood Insurance Program, and flood preparedness, warning and recovery. ASFPM has become a respected voice in floodplain management practice and policy in the United States because it represents the flood hazard specialists of local, state and federal government, the research community, the insurance industry, and the fields of engineering, hydrologic forecasting, emergency response, water resources, and others.
