The Wisconsin Charter Schools Study works with an advisory board comprised of leaders in both education and government. Current members of the advisory board are:

- Dr. Elizabeth Burmaster, State Superintendent of Public Instruction
- Samuel J. Carmen, Executive Director of the Milwaukee Teachers Association
- Dr. Mary E. Diez, Professor of Education and Director of Graduate Studies, Alverno College
- Dr. Michael Mintrom, Associate Professor of Political Studies, The University of Auckland
- Marvin Pratt, President of the Milwaukee Common Council
- Dr. Nancy Zimpher, Chancellor of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee
