Robert M. La Follette School of Public Affairs

The La Follette School recommends that students obtain professional work experience by working or interning with a government agency, nonprofit organization, or business in Madison, Washington, D.C., or elsewhere in the United States or the world.

Some students choose to receive graduate course credit for their internships. Below are short internship summaries prepared by students enrolled in the graduate course credit option. Since internship credit is an elective class, this list is but a small sampling of the internships taken by La Follette students over the years. Many students pursue internships outside their La Follette coursework. Use this information to research potential internship employers and to get a sense of a typical "day in the life" of a La Follette intern.
