Crystel Anders provides consultation on strategy and planning; designs and delivers meeting facilitation services to public agencies and local organizations; offers individual leadership coaching to executive directors and other leaders. Crystel brings 30 years of experience in organizational management, leadership advancement, strategic focus, board development, and staff team building to her work as a consultant.
Crystel has held executive positions in multiple organizations, most recently as the Executive Director of Community Shares of Wisconsin (CSW). While leading CSW Crystel developed a diversified funding plan that increased annual revenue by 60%, establishing the organization as one of the most successful social action funds in the country. Crystel established Dane County’s first online giving day - The Big Share, and created a Madison nonprofit center—the Center for Change—with a focus on collaboration, learning and shared resources. During her tenure, the organization was Named Best Places to Work by Madison Magazine in 2010 and 2014 and received the Outstanding Philanthropic Organization of the Year Award from the Madison Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals in 2015.
In addition to her successful career at Community Shares of Wisconsin, Crystel worked effectively in rural Wisconsin mobilizing community support to obtain fee for service contracts in seven counties to fund local domestic violence services. She also secured funding to establish the first sexual assault intervention and prevention program in southwest Wisconsin.
Crystel has served in various leadership roles for local and national organizations, provided training and strategy development for funding coalitions in multiple states, and co-facilitated a 10-part sequential workshop series focused on race using the book, Witnessing Whiteness: The Need to Talk About Race and How to Do It as the anchor text.
Crystel was a founding board member of the Wisconsin Nonprofits Association. She served as Board President for the Community Shares USA National Coalition and is an advisory board member for the Morgridge Center for Public Service.
Crystel holds an MSSW from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and received her BS from Carroll University in Waukesha, Wisconsin.
