Mo O’Connor serves as the admissions and advising coordinator for the La Follette School of Public Affairs. She is passionate about working with students and supporting them as they progress toward their academic and career goals. Her position focuses on sharing information about the many educational opportunities available to prospective students at recruiting events and in individual appointments. She also works with incoming and current students as an academic advisor, complementing the faculty advisors assigned to all MIPA and MPA students. Mo serves as the La Follette School’s liaison with campus offices that offer dual-and double-degree options and certificates: the Nelson Institute for Environmental Studies, Department of Planning and Landscape Architecture, Law School, Neuroscience, School of Medicine and Public Health, and Wisconsin School of Business. Mo is thrilled to continue the tradition of excellent service and commitment to graduate students established by La Follette colleagues.
Mo brings 16 years of campus experience to this position, having served undergraduate students in the College of Letters & Science and the School of Human Ecology as a career advisor, and as a student services coordinator in the Wisconsin School of Business, School of Nursing, and College of Engineering. She completed graduate work in the Columbia University School of the Arts and Columbia University Teachers College and has a master of fine arts (MFA) degree in Creative Writing and a master of education (Ed.M.) in English education. Mo is a proud Badger alumna of the African Languages and Literature and the Women’s Studies programs.
Outside of the office, Mo enjoys paddle boarding on Lake Mendota or Monona, doing Kundalini yoga, reading, and writing poetry. She has two rescue puppies, Rownan and Aoife, who also keep her very busy.
