Portland Business Journal selected Sarah Foster (MPA, MPH ’14) for its 40 under 40 class of 2018. Foster will receive the award June 22 for her work as executive director of the Oregon Healthiest State initiative.
The Oregon Business Council launched the Oregon Healthiest State initiative in 2014, with leadership from Nike, Cambia Health Solutions, and Oregon Health & Science University. Foster has served as its executive director since 2016.
Recognizing that the state’s health care system needed attention, Oregon’s employers introduced health care reform as an Oregon Business Plan initiative in 2004. The original strategy in the Oregon Business Plan set goals to increase access to care, to improve quality, and to better manage costs. In 2014, business leaders added a new goal: improving the upstream and social determinants of health.
