The La Follette School of Public Affairs is seeking client-based projects for students in its Workshop in Public Affairs and Workshop in International Public Affairs courses. Applications for domestic and international projects from public, nonprofit, or private-sector organizations are due November 17. Alumni are encouraged to apply.
Student groups complete the client-based projects under the direction of a La Follette School faculty member. During the semester-long courses beginning in January, students gain practical experience applying the tools they acquired during their previous coursework.
Based on the client’s request, each group produces a research-based, analytical, evaluative, and prescriptive report and presents its results to the client during an in-person or video meeting by early May. There is no cost to clients.
The viability of projects is based on the following criteria.
- Is there a clear and high-profile client, with a point of contact in a position to respond to students and facilitate the conversations?
- Data availability: Given the short timeline, existing public or internal data is preferred.
- Is the project scope focused enough to conduct analysis and make recommendations within the timeframe?
