Kazakhstan university official visits La Follette School

An official from Nazarbayev University in Astana, Kazakhstan, visited the La Follette School on April 5 to learn about its academic programs as they develop their own public policy graduate program.

Yevgenia Kim, senior manager of the career and advising center, met with career development coordinator Kate Battiato, who has a 2007 Master of Public Affairs degree from the La Follette School.

The La Follette School has ties to Nazarbayev University through professor emeritus John Witte, who has served as dean of its new School for Humanities and Social Science since retiring from the University of Wisconsin–Madison in 2012.

"Yevgenia shared an update on professor Witte, saying he's been helpful in getting the public affairs school started," Battiato says. "I gave her an overview of the services I offer, including the résumé books, mentoring program, job club and the professional development workshop.  I shared with her the materials from our prospective student visit day so that she might be able to use similar strategies at their school."
