Student, alumnus chosen for leadership program

La Follette School student Erik Gartland and alumnus Brett Halverson (MPA ’14) were accepted into the New Leaders Council (NLC) fellowship program for spring 2019.

NLC is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to educating a new generation of leaders and to providing those leaders with the tools they need to succeed. It does not support or oppose any candidate for public office and serves only as an educational leadership training ground.

Several La Follette School alumni, including Drew Curtis (MPA ’16) and Soong Kit Wong (MIPA ’17), are graduates of the NLC fellowship program, as is Sophia Rogers – a student in the dual law and public affairs degree program.

NLC, which is based in Washington, DC, has 50 chapters across the country, including Madison and Milwaukee, with nearly 7,000 alumni
