Alumni, friends, students, faculty, and staff will gather Tuesday, September 3 for the La Follette School’s annual Hill Fest welcome picnic. Hill Fest will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on the beautiful La Follette grounds overlooking Lake Mendota at 1225 Observatory Drive.
With 52 students, the La Follette School’s 2018 cohort includes a practicing physician, the founder of a nonprofit organization, an award-winning playwright, two nurses, a newspaper editor, a police officer, three military veterans, and people with a wide range of other experiences.
The La Follette School of Public Affairs at the University of Wisconsin–Madison welcomed 57 first-year students and one new faculty member to start the 2016–17 academic year. Assistant Professor Yang Wang, a 2003 alumna of the La Follette School, returned to campus after seven years at Lafayette College in Pennsylvania.
Mother Nature saved some of the summer’s best weather for the La Follette School’s annual Hill Fest celebration. Atop Observatory Hill and under blue skies, more than 120 students, alumni, friends, faculty, and staff marked the start of the 2016–17 academic year with a picnic dinner and enthusiastic conversations.
