Women in Government Leadership Seminar begins May 9

Applications for the 2019 Wisconsin Women in Government (WWIG) Leadership Seminar are due March 29. La Follette School Director and Professor Susan Webb Yackee and Professor Emeritus Dennis Dresang once again will lead the seminar, which begins Thursday, May 9.

Founded in 1987, WWIG is a bipartisan volunteer organization that recognizes and supports women who work in local, state, or federal government or who interact with the government through nonprofit or private-sector employment. WWIG also promotes mentoring by bringing together women from different backgrounds to share experiences and to foster professional networks.

The La Follette School has collaborated with WWIG on the Leadership Seminar since 2001, and in 2018, WWIG and the La Follette School received a Community-University Partnership Award from UW–Madison.

Each of the four sessions in the Leadership Seminar are from 1 to 4:30 p.m. at the Pyle Center, 702 Langdon Street, Madison. The dates are Thursday, May 9; Friday, May 10; Thursday, May 16; and Friday, May 17. The cost is $300 per person.

In addition, WWIG’s 2019 Scholarship and Recognition Gala will feature Kristen Soltis Anderson on May 15 at the Monona Terrace Community & Convention Center.
